Cinemalaya – Winners 2014!


After 10 days of activities the Cinemalaya came to an end. These are the winners for this edition.

This year 8 films were the big winners of the Cinemalaya X as they receive almost all the awards. In the New Breed Section the big winner was Bwaya directed by Francis Xavier Pasion who took the Best Film Award, the NETPAC Award, the Best Cinematography Award (to Niel Daza) and the Best Musical Score (to Erwin Fajardo). The other two films winners of this section were Dagitab directed by Giancarlo Abrahan and Children´s Show directed by Derick Cabrido. In the case of Dagitab the film obtained the Best Director Award, the Best Actress Award and the Best Screenplay Award (to Giancarlo Abrahan). Children´s Show obtained the Best Supporting Actor Award (to Miggs Cuaderno), the Best Editing Award and the Best Sound Award.

In the Directors Showcase Section the big winner was The Janitor directed by Michael Tuviera, the film obtained the Best Director Award, the Best Screenplay Award, the Best Supporting Actor Award (to Nicco Manalo), the Best Editing Award (to Tara Illenberger) and the Best Sound Award (to Mike Idioma). The other big winners were Kasal directed by Joselito Altarejos, Hari ng Tondo directed by Carlos Siguion-Reyna and Hustisya directed by Joel C. Lamangan.

In the Short Film Section Asan si lolo me? directed by Sari Estrada was awarded for Best Film. Lola directed by Kevin Ang Tan won Best Director Award, Best Screenplay Award and the Audience Award.
